Chapter VIII: The Legend of Zaidan
(November 2006 - December 2007)
"Like you are tired of that nonesene! I am tired of people calling me a cheater! I get message from plenty of people saying something and somthing, And i am sick of this now!"
-Zaidan/Azed/Legend_Killer/Whatever his name is this week...
Just before the end of the Kngiths war a rather interesting character calling himself "Zaidan" appeared in universe 15. Despite several bannings and forum warnings for various minor rule violations, nobody really paid him much attention until he tried to steal the copyrighted artwork of a large guild that had also recently arrived in OGame called the Legion of Kings. That incident brought him to the attetnion of the community at large and began a long list of further incidents resulting in his banning, returning, re-banning, returning again, yet more banning and a wide array of idiotic behavior through the course of it all. The Golden Shields teamed up with the Legion of Kings to "remove" Zaidan from OGame on several occasaions, along with help from many other people. Though Zaidan was not the last villan we had to face off aginst in OGame, he was by far the most entertaining and thus the only one deserving of his own chapter in the guild history.
The Legend of Zaidan/Azed
A tale of the two-headed, multi-accounting, "blood mate" of doom!
Once upon a time in a universe far, far away (called Universe 15) there was a boy named Zaidan. Zaidan was the leader of a small alliance called "Legend of Emperor" which was not very note worthy. In fact, so uninteresting was this alliance that it would have gone totally overlooked by history... except for one fact: Zaidan was its leader and he was totally wacked out of his gourd.
Zaidan's rise to fame and infamy began with theft. The theft of copyrighted artwork to be specific. A new alliance to universe 15 had recently arrived called the Legion of Kings ("LoK" for short). For reasons unknown, Zaidan decided he liked the artwork on their alliance page and stole it to use on his own "Legend of Emperor" alliance page. LoK was obviously not happy about this and demanded that Zaidan cease using their artwork at once. Zaidan replied to their demands by merely suggesting that he would change it, somday, if he found something else he liked better. This did not satisfy LoK who wanted their artwork removed from Zaidan's alliance page right away. So LoK opened a topic on the universe 15 forums informing the entire universe of the theft and Zaidan's confusing reply to it. Zaidan appeared shortly after to respond to the topic by claiming he did not steal the image from them but had in fact stolen it from another alliance in a totally different game. No evidence to support this claim could ever be found and Zaidan continued to be yelled at by LoK while various nut jobs suggested that a war should be declared to settle the issue, as was the style at the time.
Until now I, Raltar, had not considered Zaidan and his small alliance to be of any interest. But upon reading of the artwork theft something caught my attention. Confusing to me, as it may be confusing to you, is why Zaidan would steal artwork for his alliance page that had the name of a different alliance on it. A name that was clearly vastly different from the name of his own alliance. It simply did not make a great deal of sense. I posed the question to Zaidan in the artwork theft thread, asking why he would want to use artwork on his alliance page that did not match the name of his alliance. Sadly, I never received any anwser to this question as a corrupt moderator stormed in and closed the thread for no apparent reason as corrupt moderators in OGame are fond of doing.
After that Zaidan and "Legend of Emperor" quieted down for a bit. Then one day Zaidan was banned for multi-accounting.
And so it seemed that the story of Zaidan was at an end... Or was it?
About a month later LoK began to have diplomatic trouble with another alliance called CCCP and their leader named Ner-Zul who was doing a lot of very questionable things and making obnoxious remarks about it. The full CCCP vs LoK story is quite long, but suffice to say it needs to be mentioned here as it was the point where Zaidan suddenly resurfaced.
Out of the blue one day, about a month after his original banning, Zaidan posts a topic informing everyone that he is leaving the game forever. That same day an admin on the forums changes the name of his account from "Zaidan" to "Azed" apparently at the request of the account owner. "Azed" then replies to "Zaidan's" thread informing everyone that Zaidan is now gone forever and Azed is now here. This bizzare behavior raises several interesting questions, not the least of which is why Zaidan would feel the need to tell us he is leaving when everyone believed he had already been banned from the game over a month before. Sadly, these buring questions were never anwsered as a corrupt moderator stormed in and closed the thread for no apparent reason as corrupt moderators in OGame are fond of doing.
But yet that very same day "Azed" appeared in the thread on the forums where LoK was attemtping to resolve their trouble with Ner-Zul and CCCP. Azed announced that he was now a member of CCCP and challenged LoK to declare war on CCCP "like a woman" in the same confusing, poorly spelled and grammatically incorrect way that Zaidan would have.
At this point I, Raltar, was suspicious that something was amiss with this Azed/Zaidan situation and did a bit of research on the matter out of curiosity. But as it was not yet directly my concern I did not yet reveal the truth I had discovered. Instead I tried to help settle the LoK and CCCP problems in a diplomatic way but my attempts were met with disrespectful replies from Azed. Seeing that Azed was only trying to provoke a war with LoK, I decided I had little other choice but to tell everyone the truth about him.
I posted a long message proving that Azed and Zaidan were the same person, along with all the evidence to back this up inculding that it was the same forum account, "they" both had the same email address and even a link to a thread Zaidan himself had made many months previously where he openly stated that "Azed" was another nickname of his. Azed was instantly backed into a corner by this and up aginst the ropes with little hope of defending himself. He tried to throw out various lies and insults but all of these were refuted one by one and with each lie he only dug his grave a little bit deeper.
Finally Azed threw out his final, most absurd and most hilarious story yet:
The reason he was banned before was because his "evil blood mate" Zaidan had forced him to participate in various account sharing and multi-accounting scams aginst his will. Apparently this "evil blood mate" lived with him and was much richer than him which was why Azed had no choice but to do what he said. Azed apparently felt that blaming the enitre thing on his "evil blood mate" Zaidan would get him off the hook and explain his confusing behavior thus far. It didn't.
Many very logical points were made in reply to Azed's story. It didn't explain why "Azed" and "Zaidan" have the same email address. It didn't explain why "Azed" apparently felt he had no choice but to do what the "evil blood mate" said and was forced to multi-account. It didn't explain why Zaidan himself stated he used "Azed" as a nickname. It didn't disprove the mountains of information suggesting that "Azed" and "Zaidan" were the same person. But the most interesting, logical and hilarious point that was made was that even if Azed's story were true, then it would mean he had just admitted he was account sharing with Zaidan, which was still considered cheating and was still a bannable offense reguardless of the reasons why he did it.
Azed never offered any reply to that logic. In fact he stopped posting in that thread altogeather at that point.
The war between LoK and CCCP came to its own resoultion later on when Ner-Zul was also banned for multi-accounting, but that story is not relevant here as after his real motives were revealed, Azed departed from CCCP and tried to join with another alliance. However he continued to attack some of the lower ranked members of LoK and this was obviously not acceptable to LoK. Eventually Azed was removed from the other alliance he joined and LoK declared war on him, stating their intention to crash his fleets, wipe out his defenses and steal all of his resources until he was finally forced out of the universe again. As Azed had continued his insulting and disrespectful behavior, The Order of The Golden Shields agreed to help in this goal as we did not want to see someone like Azed running around in the universe with us.
LoK and GS teamed up and formed an alliance aginst Azed. Using both forums and Ventrillo voice chat servers many coordinated attacks were planned aginst Azed. Hundreds of interplanetary missiles were built and fired at his plantes, Azed's rahter small and weak fleets were crashed repeatedly, his defenses on his planets reduced to dust. In reply to this Azed announced that he was leaving the game forever, while at the same time not actually leaving at all but instead sticking around and making up more lies to try to cover his tracks. One final grand attack on Azed's homeworld was planned that was going to involve 400+ interplanetary missiles, several huge fleets and many, many participants.
However, acting on a small hint that Azed had let slip out, I went over to a forum called "acctrade.org" and started checking into the activities of Azed at this forum. He was rather easy to find as he had already started a huge thread there complaining that some guy named "Benji" had cheated him in a trade. As it turns out Azed had traded an account to Benji and when he gave the password for the account to Benji he didn't bother to change it first. So the password Benji got was the password that Azed used for ALL his accounts and Benji used that information to get access to Azed's acctrade account and steal a bunch of "credits" from the account. In order to prove this in an attempt to get his credits back, Azed asked one of the moderators to post a screen shot of his accout info. As it turned out, this screen shot was Azed's downfall.

The sceen shot did not merely reveal that Benji had stolen the credits, it also showed many of the other trades that Azed had recently made on the forum. Suprise, suprise, there were no less than THREE accounts he had traded for in universe 15 alone, thus proving that Azed was multi-accounting. AGAIN. The screen shot was sent along with a compiled list of all the various admissions of cheating Azed had made on the forums to both the OGame staff and the staff of Acctrade.org. Subsequently Azed and several of his mutli-accounts were banned from both Universe 15 and Acctrade.org.
In the wake of the banning there was some dissapointment that the final grand attack on his homeworld would not have a chance to happen but for the most part everyone was enthralled and elated to hear that Azed was finally getting the banning he deserved (AGAIN). In the midst of the celebration Azed slinked back onto the forums to post an obviously sarcastic apology and to claim once more that he was leaving the game forever. Nobody believed him as he had lied about leaving the game so many times previously.
And so, when Azed popped up again four months later, nobody was suprised at all. This time Azed was claimg to have obtained a "top 100" account in universe 15 (having apparently gotten his ban at acctrade reversed) and declared his intention to once again seek out his revenge on LoK... all over that silly artwork he tried to steal so long ago. Along with his return and claims of having a top 100 account, Azed also attempted to spread various lies (as per his usual agenda) inculding one perticularly absurd lie that a spy in LoK was feeding him information. As all the members of LoK know each other personally this lie was instantly laughed at and even Azed himself eventually had to admit it was a lie, this proving he had learned nothing and was still a liar and a cheat who deserved nothing but a banning from the universe. To prove this an early version of this document of his history was posted into the thread where he declared his return. Many people rapidly hailed the document as a great victory over Azed and began to laugh at him. Sadly this fun was short lived as a corrupt moderator closed the thread for no apparent reason as corrupt moderators in OGame are fond of doing.
In the wake of his newest embarrassment, Azed tried to recover his reputation by posting another fake apology and begging once again for an end to the conflict. The most hilarious part of his apology was when he admitted to all the zany lies he had told in the past but then tried to cover them with newer and even more obvious lies. Azed's apology was mocked to high hell and back by almost everyone in the forum. A few people who were new to the forum and didn't understand what was going on had to have the concept repeatedly explained to them but by the end of the thread everyone was in a agreement:
Azed was a LOL-Cow!
After being embarrassed and mocked for being a LOL-Cow Azed finally went silent again for awhile. However something very odd happened then. Another player in universe 15 who had gone mostly unnoticed called "Legend_killer" suddenly flipped out, started a huge thread complaining that someone had accused him of being Azed and was threatening to quit the universe over it. This took everyone by suprise because nobody had really been paying any attention to Legend and thus nobody would have really thought to accuse him of being Azed. At first many people stepped in to console Legend and assure him that they didn't think he was Azed. Even I made the somewhat dubious choice to confirm that I didn't think he was Azed. But despite this Legend continued to freak out and claim he was offended by the whole incident and in the end he did end up quitting the universe. In the wake of this strange behavior the question was raised: Could Legend_Killer be Azed?
A quick search of Legend's post history mostly anwsered that question for us. He had posted in almost every thread Azed had recently posted in and often had supportive things to say about Azed. Plus Legend had also declared war on the player calling himself Benjy who Azed had accused of stealing his account on Acctrade.org before he got banned from that site. It was surely starting to look like Azed and Legend could be the same person. And if they weren't then they had to atleast be working togeather. But as there wasn't enough evidence to prove anything and both Azed and Legend seemed to have deaprted the universe for the moment, there wasn't much that could be done about the situation.
Another few months went by and one day while casually browsing the OGame forums I discovered that Legend had become very active in universe 30. I stopped by the universe 30 diplomacy forums to see what was going on and suprise, suprise it looked like our old frind was back to his old tricks again. He had started a huge flame war there aginst some innocent alliance that didn't look like they had done anything to provoke him. During the course of this gigantic flame war he had been accused of making up lies, faking Combat reports, multi-accounting, throwing around childish insults and threats. Pretty much all the same stupid stuff he had done to get himself ostracized from universe 15. I figured that the leader of this poor alliance he was harassing would appreciate hearing from me so I sent him a message telling him about my suspicions that Azed and Legend were the same person along with some links to where he could see some of the obnoxious stunts Azed had pulled in universe 15. Uopn seeing this information he instantly agreed that Legend and Azed had to be the same person and that we needed to do something to get him shut down once and for all.
For another few weeks we watched Legend and gathered evidence to convince others that he was Azed. Although upon closer exmaination there were many more coincidental bits of evidence suggesting they were the same person, the best piece of evidence came when a member of the OGame staff broke his agreement not to give out personal information about players in the game and confirmed that the forum accounts of Azed and Zaidan were being accessed by the same IP address. This same forum moderator was also the GO who had banned Azed in universe 15 previously for multi-accounting and confirmed that he had to ban Legend's account at the same time (thus explaining who had accused Legend of being Azed and why Legend couldn't be talked out of leaving the universe since his account was in the process of being banned).

Now we were convinced that Azed and Legend were the same person. But just trying to get him caught for multi-accounting again wouldn't do much good. It was obvious that he was using acctrade.org to constantly obtain new high ranked accounts whenever he got banned. The ease with which OGame accounts could be traded and renamed meant he could simply keep getting new accounts and inventing new identities to hide them forever. The only logical soultion was to get him banned from acctrade.org to throw a monkey wrench into his plan. I contacted the Acctrade admin and told him what we had learned but amazingly enough he was already in the process of banning Legend_Killer from his site. It turned out that Legend had yet another identity called "europoker" which he was using to run scams in some other crappy online game. Europoker had gotten caught doing this finally and when they went to ban europoker they discovered that it was a multi-account of Legend-Killer. Being told that Legend was also Azed who had already been bannned once before was just one more reason to ban him.
And so Zaidan/Azed/Legend/whatever was banned yet again. Clearly he was not learning anything from these experiences because he was still coming back time and time again to continue his cheating and lies. But maybe atleast this time he would be banished for a while longer as he would have a hard time getting any new accounts.
The End?
